We begin week 9 at Johns Hopkins

  • WBC is 4070 (4500-11000)
  • Neutrophil count is 3580.(1500-7800)
  • Hematocrit is 29.4 (36-46)
  • Platelets count is 67 (150-350)
  • Transfusion scorecard: platelets (41); blood (22).
Big bump on the platelets after receiving 2 more bags!

Physical therapy came in again yesterday, and Denise actually walked about 8 steps with a walker and 2 people holding her on each side. I was encouraged as she was not shuffling her feet, but actually taking steps! They will be back today, and hopefully she can double her progress.

Also went to the neurology department yesterday and she had some tests performed to determine the extent of the numbness in her hands and feet. Hopefully the doctors will report on the results when they make their rounds later this morning.

Factoid: When we visit public restrooms, bathrooms, hotel rooms, changing rooms, etc., how many of you know for sure that the seemingly ordinary mirror hanging on the wall is a real mirror, or actually a two-way mirror?? Just conduct this simple test: Place the tip of your fingernail against the reflective surface and if there is a GAP between your fingernail and the image of the nail, then it is a GENUINE mirror. However, if your fingernail DIRECTLY TOUCHES the image of your nail, then BEWARE, for it is a two-way mirror.. Try it!
